Labels Declare Their Independence!

A 35% increase in this year’s attendance demonstrates the growing  interest and curiosity of the public for independent music.

At a time when independent labels have a big part in music’s digital revolution, this event is also an opportunity to create an organic relationship between music enthusiasts (whether from the labels, artists themselves, or part of the music loving public) as music consumption can not be based solely on a series of online algorithms.

On the sidelines of the market there were many live showcases and dj sets from artists including: BRNS, Al3ph, Ex-ILE, Malik Djoudi, Rubin, Petit Fantôme, Royaume, Jo Wedin & Jean Felzine, Lord Funk; as well as the presence of others to meet their public such as : Vianney, Vincent Delerm, and Frah de Shaka Ponk.

80% of the music produced in France is being released by independent record companies. The 70 labels presented and the diversity of the programming reflect the vitality and vivacity of the independent music in France, and around the globe.

The Independent Label Market is an international event taking place in London, Berlin, Barcelona, Bristol, Hamburg, Los Angeles, and Toronto; which also won the Indie Champion Award at the AIM Music Awards 2017 in London (Sept 2017).

The Independent Label Market, in collaboration with SPPF and We Love Art Agency,  wishes to thank all the French and international labels, and their numerous artists, for participating enthusiastically at this Paris edition. Also extending a big thank you to the City of Paris and the Mairie du 4eme for hosting this event as part of the OFF Nuit Blanche programme.
